Favorites: some sites to help with your New Year’s resolutions.

I have been sick all year!  Enough of the New Year jokes, I know.  But I am still sick, which accounts for my lack of new posts.  But recently I’ve found some new websites that are very useful.  Enjoy!

www.realage.com This site has great tips on nutrition and exercise.  At first I was skeptical about their weekly/daily e-mails, but they’ve actually turned out to be very informative.

The Hunger Site If your resolutions are more along the lines of advancing the cause of social justice, you’ll appreciate this website rcommended by my friend Keeley.  (She’s the one who introduced me to Ten Thousand Villages.)  This site has a wide variety of fair trade products that won’t break your recession budget.

Better World Shopper Also recommended by Keeley, this site is run by a guy who combined years of corporate research studies into a data base that ranks companies according to their social and environmental conscience.  Unlike some ranking sites I’ve seen, he uses mostly well-known companies you’ve heard of before.  The book is more comprehensive than the website, and at $10, sounds like a good deal.  Though I haven’t gotten around to purchasing the book yet.

For instance: in the Frozen Dinners category, Amy’s and Ethnic Gourmet both earned an A.  While at the bottom of the list, Boca, Stouffer’s, and Hot Pocket received F’s.

Are we really surprised about Hot Pocket?

Thanks for the heads up on those sites. I actually had to “join” RealAge last semester as part of my Personal Health class. I still subscribe. I won’t share what my “real” age was, though.

I was surprised to see Boca on the F list. I dunno, when I think soy, I think better company? Of course, I’m allergic to soy, so it doesn’t matter.

Same here. I wonder who their parent company is? Kraft also came in really low in several categories. Big surprise.

LOL that is sooooooooo funny!! you know what’s sad is that we actually buy the big thing of lean pockets just to have on hand in a pinch–i think i’ll be switching to amy’s even though they cost a lot more. probably worth it, right??;) thanks for the laughs!
